KHAYALAN .
Khayalan is an Ethno-Contemporary and World Music group, born and developed in Lisbon, Portugal.
The name comes from Indonesian culture and means, simultaneously, "Notion" and "Imagination", a concept that is deeply related to the music created by this project, due to its rich compositions and abundant improvisation.
Throughout their creative personalities, KHAYALAN’ exploration of ethnic instruments is a delicious mix of cultures, capable of stimulating the senses and perception of the musicians as their listeners.
Brought together by their love of exotic musical instruments and cultures, Zé Cruz, Kabeção, and João Jardim formed KHAYALAN in 2012. By welcoming Sebastião Bergmann as the fourth companion in their sound journeys, the group extended its musical and performance possibilities.
KHAYALAN embarks the public on a journey of sounds, sensations, and emotions ; reminiscences of ancestral cultures that have shaped our modern society.
At the same time, it presents a contemporary perspective of the music of the world and its endless possibilities.
Fusing the harmonies of unique sound sculptures with sub-Saharan grooves and melodies elaborated with deep drones, KHAYALAN calls for intimate inner flights and a rediscovery of our universal roots.
